The Band

One Punch Knockout started in 2007, but the idea was started long before. Dan Oberg (vox) and Stephen Wright (drums), were in a band called ,"No Reason Given" which was a highly successful local nine piece ska band with punk undertones. Once the band dis-membered, Dan and Stephen went back to what they set out to do originally, start a punk band. Dan and Stephen found the first guitarist, Jake Mcguire, who brought along current bassist, Peter Lazarz. This was the first original line-up. Jake left the group the following October. An ad answered by Paul Ferguson, led him to his first practice and permanent placement as a guitarist in One Punch Knockout.

With a stable line-up, One Punch Knockout started booking shows and recorded their first EP in 2008.  Brandon Sanders, a mutual friend of Stephen and Dan, joined the band as a guitarist in may 2008. With Brandon, One Punch Knockout was given the extra complexity it needed. One Punch Knockout put out another EP in August of 2010.

OPKO was drawn in Nuvo's Barfly comic strip and has been getting high profile shows. The band has played with acts such as The Queers, Sloppy Seconds, and Mustard Plug. With a full album release in the very near  future, One Punch Knockout is closing the gap on great local punk. Check OPKO's schedule and go to a show.  OPKO will definitely be a perminent stitch in Indianapolis's punk scene.
